FAQs

Olson Auto Repairs LLC

  • Why do you charge for running diagnostics?

Our diagnostic fees cover the costs of time, specialized equipment, and professional expertise needed to accurately identify vehicle problems. This process involves more than just reading error codes—it requires technicians with years of training. These fees also ensure our team can take the necessary time to get the right repair on the first attempt, every time we service your vehicle.
  • How often should I get my oil changed?

Changing your oil every 5,000 miles is a safe, reliable way to protect your engine, even if manufacturers suggest longer intervals. Real-world driving-like traffic, short trips, and harsh weather-breaks oil down faster than ideal conditions. As oil degrades, it loses its ability to lubricate, clean, and protect, which can lead to buildup and premature engine wear. Sticking to a 5,000-mile schedule helps prevent long-term damage, maintain performance, and reduce the risk of premature and expensive engine repairs which have become all too common in our industry.
  • How often should I change my other fluids?

We recommend changing brake fluid every 50,000 miles, coolant every 75,000 miles, transmission fluid every 75,000-100,000 miles, differential fluid every 50,000 miles, and power steering fluid every 75,000 miles.
  • How often should I change my air filter?

It's generally recommended to replace your engine air filter about every 30,000 miles. This interval may vary based on your specific vehicle model and driving conditions.
  • Do you offer warranties?

Yes, we offer a comprehensive 36-month or 36,000-mile warranty on most of our services, whichever occurs first. This warranty reflects our confidence in the quality of our workmanship.
  • What is the point of a tire rotation?

Tire rotation is essential for maximizing the lifespan of your tires. By systematically redistributing wear patterns across all tires, you can significantly extend their usability. Failing to rotate tires regularly may result in more frequent replacements or, in severe cases, tire failure while driving.
